Template Editor
Overview
The Template Editor is where you compose and configure the content of a message template. You can write the message text, insert dynamic variables (such as the contact's name), and attach a media file (image, video, or document). The editor includes a live preview of how the message will appear to recipients.
How to Access
- Navigate to Tools > Templates, then click on a template
- Required role: Admin
Interface Overview
The Template Editor displays:
- A Name field for the template
- A Message text area for composing the message body
- A Variables feature for inserting dynamic content (activated by typing
[) - A Media upload area for attaching a file
- A Preview panel showing how the message will look
- Save and Back buttons
Features & Actions
Edit the Template Name
What it does: Changes the display name of the template.
Steps:
- Click on the Name field
- Type the new name
- Click Save to apply
Compose the Message
What it does: Writes or edits the text content of the template message.
Steps:
- Click on the Message text area
- Type your message
- To insert a variable, type
[to open the variable selector - Select a variable from the dropdown (e.g., contact name, phone number, custom properties)
- The variable placeholder is inserted into the message
- Click Save to apply
Important notes:
- Variables are dynamic placeholders that are replaced with actual values when the message is sent
- Type
[(opening bracket) to trigger the variable selector - Available variables depend on your account's contact properties and custom fields
Attach a Media File
What it does: Adds an image, video, or document to the template that will be sent along with the message.
Steps:
- Click the upload area or drag and drop a file
- The file is uploaded and a preview is shown
- Supported file types include images (JPG, PNG), videos (MP4), and documents (PDF)
- Click Save to apply
Important notes:
- Maximum file size: 20 MB
- Only one media file can be attached per template
- The preview panel shows how the media will appear to recipients
- To remove the media, click the remove or clear button on the uploaded file
Preview the Message
What it does: Shows a live preview of how the template message will appear to recipients, including text and media.
Steps:
- As you type the message and attach media, the preview panel updates in real time
- Variable placeholders are shown as-is in the preview (they are replaced with actual values when sent)
Save the Template
What it does: Saves all changes to the template, including name, message text, variables, and media.
Steps:
- Click the Save button
- The template is saved and you receive a confirmation
