Knowledge Base Setup

Overview

The Knowledge Base Setup is the first step of the setup wizard. It allows you to provide your company's website URL and/or upload a document so that your AI agent can be trained with your business information. This step ensures that your AI agent has the context it needs to answer customer questions accurately. You can provide a website, a document, or both.

How to Access

  • This is Step 1 of the Setup Wizard
  • Accessible during the initial onboarding flow after account creation

Interface Overview

The page contains:

  • A title and description explaining what to do
  • A Website URL text input field (with URL validation)
  • A Document upload area (drag-and-drop zone)
  • Supported file type information below the upload area
  • A Later button to skip this step
  • A Next button to process the data and continue
  • A loading animation shown while content is being processed

Features & Actions

Add Your Company Website

What it does: Crawls your company website (up to 5 pages) to extract information for AI agent training.

Steps:

  1. Enter your website URL in the text field (e.g., www.yourcompany.com)
  2. Click Next to start processing
  3. Wait while the website is being crawled (a spinner shows next to the URL)
  4. Once complete, the wizard advances to the next step

Important notes:

  • The URL must be in a valid format (e.g., www.example.com or https://example.com)
  • A maximum of 5 pages will be crawled from the website
  • Invalid URLs will trigger a validation error on the input field

Upload a Company Document

What it does: Uploads a document containing company information for AI agent training.

Steps:

  1. Drag and drop a file into the upload area, or click the area to select a file
  2. The file name appears below the upload zone
  3. Click Next to upload and process the document
  4. Wait while the document is being processed (a spinner shows next to the file name)

Important notes:

  • Maximum file size: 50 MB
  • Only one file can be uploaded at a time
  • Supported file formats:
    • Documents (20 pages max): XLSX, DOCX, TXT, PDF, TIFF
    • Images (5 MB max): JPEG, PNG
    • Audio/Video (200 MB max): MP4, MOV (H.264), H.265, VP8, VP9, FLAC, M4A, MP3, Ogg, WAV

Skip This Step

What it does: Skips the knowledge base configuration and moves to the next step.

Steps:

  1. Click the Later button
  2. The wizard advances to the Channel Setup step

Important notes:

  • You can add training documents later from the AI Agent settings
  • Skipping this step means your AI agent will not have company-specific knowledge until documents are added

Process Both Website and Document

What it does: If both a website URL and a document are provided, both are processed simultaneously.

Steps:

  1. Enter a website URL
  2. Upload a document
  3. Click Next
  4. Both uploads process in parallel
  5. Once both complete, the wizard advances

Important notes:

  • If only one of the two is provided, only that one is processed
  • Both must complete successfully before the wizard advances

FAQ

Q: What if I don't have a website? A: You can upload a document with your company information instead, or skip this step entirely and configure it later.

Q: Can I upload multiple documents? A: During the setup wizard, you can upload one document. You can add more documents later from the AI Agent training settings.

Q: What happens to the uploaded content? A: The content is processed and added to your AI agent's knowledge base, allowing it to answer customer questions based on your company information.

Q: Can I change the training documents later? A: Yes, you can manage all training documents from the AI Agent settings in the main application.
