Media & Files

Overview

The Media & Files feature allows you to send images, documents, videos, and other files to contacts directly within a chat conversation. You can upload files by clicking, drag-and-drop, or pasting from your clipboard.

How to Access

  • Open any conversation in the Inbox.
  • Click the paperclip icon button next to the send button in the message input area.
  • Available to all roles: Admin, Agent, and Supervisor.

Interface Overview

Clicking the paperclip button opens a modal dialog with:

  • Upload Area: A dropzone where you can drag and drop files, click to browse, or paste images.
  • Caption Field: A text field to add an optional message alongside the file.
  • Action Buttons: Close and Send buttons.

Features & Actions

Upload Files via Click or Drag-and-Drop

What it does: Sends one or more files to the contact in the current conversation.

Steps:

  1. Click the paperclip icon in the message input area.
  2. The media upload modal opens.
  3. Upload files by one of these methods:
    • Click on the dropzone area to open a file browser.
    • Drag and drop files directly onto the dropzone area.
  4. Files appear in the dropzone with a preview. Click the "Remove" link on any file to remove it before sending.
  5. Optionally type a message in the text field below the dropzone.
  6. Click Send to upload and deliver the files.

Important notes:

  • Maximum file size: 50 MB per file.
  • Files are uploaded one at a time (sequentially).
  • If any file fails to upload, the remaining files continue processing.

Paste Images from Clipboard

What it does: Quickly sends an image by pasting it from your clipboard.

Steps:

  1. Copy an image to your clipboard (e.g., screenshot, right-click > Copy Image).
  2. Press Ctrl + V anywhere in the inbox.
  3. The media upload modal opens automatically with the pasted image.
  4. Optionally add a text message.
  5. Click Send to deliver.

Important notes:

  • Only image types (PNG, JPG, GIF) are supported for clipboard paste.
  • The pasted image is named automatically (e.g., "pasted-image.png").

Add a Caption

What it does: Attaches a text message to the uploaded file(s).

Steps:

  1. After selecting files in the upload modal, type your message in the text area below the dropzone.
  2. Click Send.
  3. The caption is sent alongside the file.

FAQ

Q: What file types can I send? A: You can send images (JPG, PNG, GIF), documents (PDF, Word, Excel), audio files, and video files. The supported types depend on the messaging channel (e.g., WhatsApp has specific limits).

Q: What is the maximum file size? A: 50 MB per file.

Q: Can I send multiple files at once? A: Yes, you can add multiple files to the dropzone. They are sent one at a time in sequence.

Q: Why did my paste not work? A: Clipboard paste only works for images. If you copied text or a non-image file, it won't trigger the upload modal.
