Agent Training - Documents & Knowledge
Overview
The Knowledge Base tab within an AI Agent's configuration lets you select which documents and catalogs the agent should use when answering questions. This is where you connect your centrally managed knowledge (from the Knowledge Base section) to a specific agent. The tab also includes recommendations on how documents and catalogs work with semantic search.
How to Access
- Navigate to Tools > Aurora AI > AI Agents, then click on an agent
- Select the Knowledge Base tab
- Required role: Chatbot Admin
Interface Overview
The Knowledge Base tab inside an agent has a vertical sidebar with three sections:
- Recommendations - Tips and explanations on how documents and catalogs work with semantic search
- Documents - Select which documents this agent should use
- Catalogs - Select which catalogs this agent should use
Features & Actions
View Recommendations
What it does: Displays educational content about how your agent uses documents and catalogs to find relevant information.
Steps:
- Click the Recommendations tab in the left sidebar
- Browse through the tabs: "How does it work?", "Documents", and "Catalogs"
Important notes:
- The Recommendations section explains semantic search: the AI understands the meaning of questions and finds relevant text fragments, even when different words are used
- Documents are split into small chunks for efficient searching
- Catalogs can be searched both semantically and with structured filters (price, category, etc.)
Select Documents for This Agent
What it does: Chooses which documents from the Knowledge Base the agent should have access to when answering questions.
Steps:
- Click the Documents tab in the left sidebar
- A list of all available documents appears with checkboxes
- Check the boxes next to the documents you want this agent to use
- The selection is saved automatically
Select Catalogs for This Agent
What it does: Chooses which catalogs from the Knowledge Base the agent should have access to.
Steps:
- Click the Catalogs tab in the left sidebar
- A list of available catalogs appears
- Select the catalogs you want this agent to use
Important Notes
- An agent always starts with its instructions (prompt); documents and catalogs are consulted only when additional information is needed
- The agent does not memorize entire documents; it retrieves only the most relevant chunks for each question
- Documents must be fully processed (not in "processing" status) before they can be effectively used
- The same document or catalog can be assigned to multiple agents
FAQ
Q: How many documents can I assign to one agent? A: There is no strict limit on the number of documents per agent. However, the quality of responses depends on the relevance and organization of your documents rather than the quantity.
Q: Will my agent automatically use new documents I add? A: No. After adding a new document to the Knowledge Base, you must come to this tab and select it for each agent that should use it.
Q: What is the difference between the central Knowledge Base and this tab? A: The central Knowledge Base (under Aurora AI > Knowledge Base) is where you upload and manage all your documents and catalogs. This tab within the agent configuration is where you select which of those sources a specific agent should use.
