Calendar Connections

Overview

Calendar Connections allows you to link your Google Calendar account to Aurora Inbox. Once connected, you can sync specific calendars so that scheduled events (such as appointments booked by contacts) appear in your Google Calendar automatically.

How to Access

  • Navigate to Settings > Profile
  • Click the Calendars tab

Interface Overview

The Calendars tab displays:

  • A title "Connected Calendars" with a Sign in with Google button
  • A left sidebar listing all connected Google accounts (with account name and email)
  • A content area showing the calendars for the selected account, each with:
    • Calendar name and description
    • A read-only indicator (pencil-off icon) if the calendar does not have write access
    • A Sync toggle switch
  • A Delete button to remove a connected account

Features & Actions

Connect a Google Account

What it does: Links a Google account to Aurora Inbox using Google OAuth. This allows Aurora to access your calendar data for syncing events.

Steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Profile > Calendars tab
  2. Click the Sign in with Google button
  3. A Google sign-in popup appears
  4. Select or sign in to your Google account
  5. Grant the requested permissions (calendar read/write access)
  6. The account and its calendars are loaded in the sidebar

Important notes:

  • The Google integration requests these permissions: email, profile, calendar events (read, write, and owned events), and calendar list (read-only)
  • You can connect multiple Google accounts
  • The connection uses offline access, so Aurora can sync events even when you are not actively logged in

Enable/Disable Calendar Sync

What it does: Toggles synchronization for a specific calendar within a connected Google account.

Steps:

  1. Select a connected Google account from the left sidebar
  2. Find the calendar you want to sync in the content area
  3. Toggle the Sync switch on or off
  4. The change saves automatically

Important notes:

  • A calendar marked with a pencil-off icon (read-only) can still be synced for reading, but Aurora cannot create events in it
  • Only calendars with write access allow Aurora to create events (e.g., scheduled appointments)

Remove a Connected Google Account

What it does: Disconnects a Google account and removes all associated calendar synchronization.

Steps:

  1. Select the Google account from the left sidebar
  2. Click the Delete button at the bottom of the calendar list
  3. A confirmation dialog appears asking you to confirm the deletion
  4. Click Delete to confirm, or Cancel to keep the connection

Important notes:

  • Removing an account stops all calendar syncing for that account
  • Events already created in Google Calendar are not deleted
  • You can reconnect the same Google account later if needed

FAQ

Q: Can I connect calendars from providers other than Google? A: Currently, only Google Calendar is supported for direct calendar integration.

Q: What permissions does Aurora need from my Google account? A: Aurora requests access to your email and profile information, the ability to read your calendar list, and the ability to read and create calendar events.

Q: Will removing a connected account delete events from my Google Calendar? A: No. Events already created in Google Calendar remain intact. Only the connection between Aurora and Google is removed.
